How can I write categories in IPTC data?

Hello,

1) I have thousands of pictures and want to write keywords into IPTC data (I just started with XNView 1.97.8. I didn´t use IPTC before). This work would be much easier if I could use the categories therefor. Is there any possibility to copy afterwards the category-data into the IPTC-field? (using a batch process?)

2) How do I filter by category, so that only the pictures are shown, which fulfill the marked categories?

Currently XnView can't copy category from database into IPTC keywords (only XnViewMP can do that)

That sounds, as if this feature is planned. May I assume that this will be applied within the next 1 or 2 years?

I tried several times but I don´t know what I´m doing wrong. As soon as I click on a category after I marked a picture the screen gets blank. If I go back a step all pictures are marked for that category. If I delete the marking in one picture, all markings are gone. I didn´t find any information in the XNViews User Guide. Is there any manual how to use the categories?

Click on a picture, you have at the bottom the category pane, click on 1 or 2 categories.
Click on another file
Now in the category view (left), click on a category
