MP 0.35 Importing Category Hierarchies

Thanks very much for your work on MP Pierre et al.

When importing category hierarchies separated by "." each category is listed separately under the "Other" category.

For example while I expect to see:
a.1
.2
.3
b.7
.8

I see:

a.1
a.2
a.3
b.7
b.8

I don't know if it works correctly with the other optional separator symbols and the problem is not new to 0.35.
