Copy/Paste Part of Image?
I am trying to copy part of one image and paste it to another image.
The copy/paste works great, but the copied part always ends up in the upper left corner. How can I move it to where I want it?
If there is no way to move the pasted image part in XnView, is there some other simple software (free?) that can do this?

Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
If all you want to do is copy and paste/position rectangles, then MSPaint (installed when you installed Windows) will work fine for your purpose.
In the Start menu, select Run...
Type MSPaint
Press [Enter]

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am copying/pasting between two images. Doesn't work with MSPaintJohnFredC wrote:If all you want to do is copy and paste/position rectangles, then MSPaint (installed when you installed Windows) will work fine for your purpose.

It works with XnView but apparently only if I want to paste it into the upper left corner.....??
Is it possible to move the pasted part in Xnview?
Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
I wonder why copying pasting between two images won't work. Just open to instances of MS Paint.viking wrote:... Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am copying/pasting between two images. Doesn't work with MSPaint![]()
But pasting in XnView with the ability to move the pasted contents would be a really good and helpful feature.

- Open one image in MSPaint
Select/Copy
Open second image in MSPaint
Paste/Move
Save

Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
When I tried it yesterday, and earlier today, the right-click menu in the 2nd instance didn't work. Strangely, it works now*.helmut wrote:I wonder why copying pasting between two images won't work. I will try MS Paint instead.
*) p.s. It may be related to another software that I am using; it sometimes interferes with the right-click menu.
Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
Arghhh.... MSPaint can not handle multi-Image Tifs.
Can I extract pages from a Multi-Image Tif using XnView?
EDIT: To answer my own question: I just realized that if I save the TIF in XnView and hit cancel when it asks to save all pages, then only the current page is saved (this dialogue could be improved to make it clearer...)

Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
Copying in XnView and pasting in MS Paint also works:
You can view your multi-page TIFs in XnView and copy parts to the clipboard and paste in a picture in MS Paint. This way you will not need to save individual pages of your multi-page TIFs.

Re: Copy/Paste Part of Image?
Still need to save the pages individually as I am pasting to a mutli-image TIF (not supported in MSPaint).helmut wrote:Copying in XnView and pasting in MS Paint also works:

As written above, moving after pasting would enhance usability of XnView very well.
