Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
Just by looking, I had no idea that the "stamp" meant "watermark". In the software I use, a stamp usually means "clone" or "image brush".

Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
Thanks for these. Right, both are good but I would prefer that first one out of the two since it's more in line with my other planned use for Icon files too (switch between frame/icon snapshot) in XnView MP. I think Pierre could agree.mezich wrote:budz45 wrote:...
this would be more better, simpler and in line with the rest of your designs when doing the 'Multipage'. Thanks.

Did you design it for 24x24 specifically? Is this going to be used in XnView toolbar, menu's itself.. I think you could reconsider...mezich wrote:I hope 99% foreign language & alphabet users will recognize this icon.budz45 wrote:Remember foreign language & alphabet users who use XnView and may to understand the writing of 'text' on your 'Add Text' picture icon

a rolling pin for the 'add watermark' - bad idea? no/yes

Good idea if we need to remember object. Like stamp. But I think, watermark most used for copyright protection.budz45 wrote:a rolling pin for the 'add watermark' - bad idea? no/yes

Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
Hi again,
. Perhaps you could post some more designs of the "(C)" metaphor just to see if others are more stronger but other than it should be fine.

You see eventually after Animated GIF support on this 'multipage' feature, I wanted for Pierre to implement it for icons files support too, hence the icon-metaphor must not be too specific to a 'movie' theme. Do you agree on the hint of colour suggestion?
'Create strip of images' - is a feature that joins multiple image files together to make one image file in a collage (joins pictures vertically or horizontally).
A possible icon metaphors could be that of a 'paperclip', a 'glue' or a ' sticky tape' metaphor. The pva 'Glue' metaphor would seem nicest IMO

'Paint plugin' - is XnView's own MS Paint-like application for basic additional image editing of images opened within XnView. http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12213 FastStone Capture has a same but slightly improved 'Paint' application that works like XnView's so I assume Pierre and other developers like that from FastStone, are using the same open source library as a basic 'starter code' - but that's another thing.

Ok, an icon for this should be easy, just slightly imitate MS Paint's icon (Win XP) - in your own design or just use a 'Paint brush' metaphor with colours on top of a blank doc sheet. This should be easy.
Good idea with the copyright "(C)" inclusion so I vote for that 3rd one of yoursmezich wrote: Good idea if we need to remember object. Like stamp. But I think, watermark most used for copyright protection.

They're good but too be honest I have fallen for the one you posted before, my only suggestion was that it have a slight hint of saturated colour so that it look like this;mezich wrote: Next version

If you have XnView 1.9x yourself you can use these functions of the app yourself and see what you have in mind.mezich wrote: Give me more info: what for 'Paint plugin logo' and 'Create strip of images'?

Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
You really could consider changing that 'add text' icon to just a clear "A" over the picture of something.mezich wrote:![]()

I don't understand why two different colors? It's not compare tool. Just frames/files. That's because I'm used film.budz45 wrote:You see eventually after Animated GIF support on this 'multipage' feature, I wanted for Pierre to implement it for icons files support too, hence the icon-metaphor must not be too specific to a 'movie' theme. Good idea.

Do you agree? If not, let me know..
Also, what is your feedback on my feedback of the 'add watermark' icon? I did say that the copyright "(C)" metaphor was excellent but also said that it could look different as to make the "C" stand out more - I understand why you transparent the "C" as to imply that it's copyright, I made this:

what do you think?
Ok, what about a picture metaphor of a 'pencil' or 'pen' or a 'ABC' or a 'typing cursor'mezich wrote:That's whybudz45 wrote:You really could consider changing that 'add text' icon to just a clear "A" over the picture of something.
typing cursor

- just tossing around ideas as alternatives
Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
I still support the "C" metaphor for 'add watermark' but here's another concept....3D-ish stamp

Re: Default toolbar icons demopage

• For “Strip of images”, I used pages sewed together plus a coil of wire and a needle …

Re: Default toolbar icons demopage
Two documents is not good because content of gif/icon is frames/pages, not files. So I think no reason for dog-eared document in this icon. So I will make movie clipper at top and two rectngles with number 2, 3 below. But not sure.budz45 wrote:Ok, how about using the same faint saturated color on both sheets
Do you agree? If not, let me know..
XnView toolbar icons should harmonize together as much as possible in their perspective.budz45 wrote:I still support the "C" metaphor for 'add watermark' but here's another concept....3D-ish stamp
Suggested 3D-ish stamp does not much perspective.
Regarding stamp - I like this metaphor, but agree with John - stamp usually means "clone" or "image brush". I think semi-transparent character like © on picture is good solution.
