I would love the ability to type in a precise zoom value.
For example, at the moment, I need to zoom a photo to a value of approximately 40%. Yet there are only a 50% and a 30% zoom level listed.
I would like the ability to type in a precise zoom value such as 40% or 42.5%, etc.
For example, if I have a photo a machine part which has a scale in the picture such as a ruler showing inches. I would like to be able to precisely scale the image until 1 inch on the ruler exactly matches 1 inch on a real ruler then I could easily measure other items in the photo to obtain measurements more quickly.
Thanks!

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
Hello,
I support this request, maybe an initial value can be defined in option ( n=##% instead the n=100% by default and then apply the relative step ratio (1,41421356 by default) to have for all the other steps: n x square 2 - or - n / square 2 ???

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
Would be so awesome if this was added in XnView MP Support 1+
There should be a drop-down box in XnView MP's status bar for this like in my Opera v10.01

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
FI:
At the moment, if you need the 40%, you can do:
100/40 = 2.5 (to Setting\View\zoom step = Relative step ; instead the square2 = 1,41421356 by default)
hotkey "*" to have the 100% and one step zoom out to have the 40% (or square(2.5) =1,58113883 and 2 steps out, etc...)
if you need 42.5%:
100/42.5 = 2,352941176 (to Setting\View\zoom step = Relative step)
hotkey "*" to have the 100% and one step zoom out to have the 42.5% (43% rounded displayed for information into XnView)
etc...
(you also can use fixed step, instead relative step, by iterations for an empiric measure (zoom steps +/- x%))
But it's a little bit boring

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
oops66,
Thanks very much for this method! It does work and will be used in the meantime. But I would still prefer to have the possibility to type in a zoom value where I could quickly type in a couple of different values and arrive at the proper one so that the 1 inch on the ruler (visible in the photo) would be 1 inch on the screen.
Thanks again.

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
Pierre, what is your verdict on adding this for a future MP version?

Re: Ability for Precise Zoom
Custom type in entry of zoom is now in XnView MP v0.38
Well, I tried to enter "42.5" and it's not reading the "." value. So Mike you want a super-precise custom entry zoom ehMike Truly wrote:type in a precise zoom value such as 40% or 42.5%, etc.

Still, the spinner on the View tab zoom control is a wonderful addition and works well in 1% steps.budz45 wrote:Well, I tried to enter "42.5" and it's not reading the "." value.
Thank you Pierre! Please add the same feature to the preview!
