MP 0.35 Win: Browser doesn't scroll the focus view of sync'd

Post by budz45 »

After closing that same file from the Viewer - the scroll on the browser's scrollbar does not auto scroll-focus to the view of the sync'd file/image in the Browser if the same file/image age is at the bottom of the file list in 'Thumbnails + Labels' view.

Usually for folders with a lot of files.

OS: Windows XP sp3
folder: desktop
browser's view: Thumbnails + Labels
sorted by: 'Date'
number of files in folder: 241

I think the scroll and scrollbar need examining here in rectifying.

Sorry but I currently cannot post a proper reproduction as I feel I would have to name all the files in my folder for this. But could if it would help..

Anyone else experiencing this issue

How that? When you return from view to browser, the focus is not on good file in thumbnail view??

Yes that's right :D

I made a quick video, please watch:
http://tinypic.com/r/hvt5lh/7

it's supposed to focus auto-scroll view to selected file that was viewed from viewer. I have the option disabled "synchronize browser when view is closed"

So actually you need to fix if when "synchronize browser when view is closed" is ENABLED :D

If disabled the "synchronize browser when view is closed" then it should sync to the "My Computer" view in Browser - I think that is best :P

Actually, other actions also lose the "current" thumb scroll position in the browser. One simple example is hiding/showing the Preview in the browser.

It should be de facto that the currently selected image thumb cartouche always scrolls into visibility when returning to the browser from any action such as load layout, change window size, etc.

I'm unable to properly test this because the 'synchronize to browser' is currently not working at all in 0.38

I know what it is, Pierre I will send you PM..

Not fixed for change layout in 0.38, at least.

To reproduce:
  • 1. In browser, show thumbs, show preview
    2. Navigate to a folder with many thumbs
    3. Scroll to the middle of the file list
    4. Select a thumb (displays in preview)
    5. Select another layout
    6. Observe that selected thumb is no longer visible
If MP is not to do this automatically, a convenient function would be a toolbar button "Center selected thumb" or "Scroll to selected thumb"

Ok, but not the same problem :)

Blank Empty window is Fixed in XnViewMP 0.38.1 :P

...However, if this time, if the enabled setting of 'Synchronize Browser when view is closed' - this does not currently seem to be working i.e. browser not opening if viewer tab is closed, it just goes straight to 'empty' tab. So the settings needs to be fixed so that it works again.

Ok, if you open the Browser tab only (no other tabs), then go to "Recent files" and open any picture(s) from "Recent files" that are each in different directories directories then upon closing the tab to that picture and visiting the Browser tab again, the Browser tab is indeed correctly sync'd :) (and sync'd properly to the correct scoll/focus position in the folder list too) :D and this is all while the setting ''Synchronize Browser when view is closed" is enabled.

So yes it does indeed work, it's just that I got confused and thought that if I closed the last tab then 'browser' tab would auto-open again (old behaviour) - but this I remember is old unwanted behaviour (if a user cannot control it) and a new setting could be added (maybe in future) to control this...

.. I actually discuss this 'new' setting here http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?p=89728 (another issue)
