batch copy iptc data & title fields

I'm looking for help in doing a task that I think is probably possible - I'd like to copy iptc descriptions to what Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop call IPTC Titles.

If i save an IPTC title field in Adobe Bridge, it comes out as Origin > Object Name in XNView, but it also gets truncated. If I re-edit it, it seems to hold all the data.

What I'd like to do is avoid Adobe, and then just somehow be able to add these Titles within XNView. Ideally, I'd like to do a batch process that grabs whatever is in the description field and copy it to this Title field.
