Hi
It's always a small nuisance for me to navigate by favorites, because XnView takes quite a lot time to build up the folder structure.
Example:
I have a favorite folder with 29 subfolders and 70.000 files. When I open the folder node, XnView freezes for 20+ seconds till it's finishing the scan for subfolders and displays the folder tree.
Of course it's quite a big folder, but possibly there are ways (like caching?) and scan optimizations (own threads in background or something?) to prevent such a big waiting/freezing period.
I just want to give an impulse, if it's not an usage failure by me using favorite folders with that big amount of sub-folders and files.

You have the problem in folder view too? And in xnview 1.98?
Pierre.
Re: Speeding up the dynamic favorites feature
In the folder tree view XnView scans very fast for subfolders, without freezing the window.
With XnView 1.98 the scan of subfolders in the favorites panel is very fast too.
So I only get freezes and a long waiting time with XnViewMP in the favorites panel. The more stuff in folders, the longer the freeze/scan.#
Example: Add C:\ to favorites, and navigate to C:\Windows through the favorites panel. For me, XnView freezes about more than 5 seconds till it's opened the node. 1.98 or the folder view of MP open it immediately.

Re: Speeding up the dynamic favorites feature
Well, its a classic problem. I've got the same thing with XnView "classic". More than 15 s waiting for à 19000 images (well, it's awfully big, I know).

In XnView "Classic" I personally don't have those large waiting times (and especially no freezes). Only in MP. Strangelian wrote:Well, its a classic problem. I've got the same thing with XnView "classic". More than 15 s waiting for à 19000 images (well, it's awfully big, I know).

Re: Speeding up the dynamic favorites feature
Thanks for your try, but there's no noticeable difference for me.

Re: Speeding up the dynamic favorites feature
Oops, I accidently checked it in 0.35! Sorry.
You're right, it's a lot faster now (~3 Seconds instead of more than 20 for my biggest folder node
).
That's a great improvement, thanks
