0.32 Win: Highest page not always first in Multipage

Post by budz45 »

hi again,

This issue so far only affects .ico

Maybe this is part bug and part request but I assume it was a bug in it's nature so I wrote it in this forum.

When not in Icon Snapshot mode.... Basically all .icns and .rsrc display the 512x512 page first (1/xx) which is great. However with .ico icon files this fashion is not always followed. Some .ico files display the highest page first (256x256 if it's included) and some .ico don't.

In current 0.32, these .ico icons uploaded display the highest page first in the page list
OK.zip
(193.17 KiB) Downloaded 124 times
..However these .ico icons of my test DON'T (below download link)
01 these ico.rar
(253.29 KiB) Downloaded 138 times
For all and any .ico - the highest page should display first. If the highest page in a .ico is 48x48 (32) then that should display first, same thing for any highest page whether it's 256x256 (32) as highest or 128x128 (32) etc In the same way like .icns and .rsrc display like this good.

So if this a bug with .ico page viewing, then I would be ever so grateful if this gets fixed 8) Merci

This issue is sadly still present in MP 0.35. :(

I don't think it's a funny issue as it's likely to do with the specific encoding of some multipage .ico files. Still this issue needs to be resolved so some investigation into the .ico formats I uploaded.

Remember the highest page with the most/prominent alpha (transparency) must be displayed in ORDER FIRST for any .ico, .icns and .rsrc icons :P ... I hope this can be fixed.

Sorry for double-post.

Right,

So this issue is now fixed in MP 0.38 for:
-when I launch the .ico in MP (normal)
-when I launch those icon from "recent file"
-when I launch via drag 'n' drop of .ico to interface
:P

However it is not now fixed for when using next/prev file (<< >>) functions in MP 0.38.

So to test download '01 these ico.rar' same attachment again (above post) and extract to a sub-folder with all of those 5 .ico icons in same folder. Then launch on of the .ico and Highest page is displayed :) Ok, but if you navigate to next/prev file in the file list of same folder you would notice that the issue (bad icon page) happens again. :|

Please investigate and fix.

..there is one very tiny issue left, I think last remaining issue on this case.

Ok, to reproduce, follow these steps:

1.) Download the same "01 these ico.rar" attachment (above post)
2.) Extract the icons to a sub-folder
3.) Load of the icons
4.) Press 'next page' (to go down to the next lowest page down from highest)
5.) Right, now press 'next file' to go to next icon file in folder
6.) Right, now press 'previous file' to go back to that same previous file
7.) Now can you see, notice how the default 'highest page' does is not auto-reset, but displays last viewed page

Oh but when I disable "Keep current image" in Settings>View>misc then I do not get this bug issue :? Oh, so this last remaining issue is not a bug then, but just a feature that I have to disable correct??
