RC3: Lite Fullscreen Mode
Moderators: helmut, XnTriq, xnview
No, there are (and will be) 4 modes in xnview - Browser, Viewer, Fullscreen and Fullscreen "Lite" - and I just want to make navigation/switching through these modes easier, clear and customizable to needs of all users.marsh wrote:Is Fullscreen-Preview a means of making a third version of Xnview (or two versions in one program)? Any differences noticed in fullscreen behavior at all could be confusing.
You can find more reasons for my "blue" suggestions in this thread...
I do not know what "will be". Perhaps my comment was off-topic since it did not specifically address your suggestion. You, as a tester, seem convinced there are 4 modes of operation. I am not certain of any of that. Nor would any other user looking at this program. Which is the reason for my previous comment. Another mode of operation certainly is not signified by any option displayed in RC3. Why would a novice user think anything other than "fullscreen is broken" if looking at it in its current form? Since I do not read everything on this forum, I try to base comments (many mistaken ones) only on my experiences with the program.Dreamer wrote: No, there are (and will be) 4 modes in xnview - Browser, Viewer, Fullscreen and Fullscreen "Lite" - and I just want to make navigation/switching through these modes easier, clear and customizable to needs of all users.

You mean probably this: (lite fullscreen is fullscreen in the browser)marsh wrote:Perhaps only a "[x] Use Preview for FullScreen" option is needed. Otherwise, it acts just like v.1.74.
With my "blue" suggestions, you could never use this lite fullscreen mode (you can find them in my first post of this topic).xnview wrote:Not sure that these options are good...Dreamer wrote:I'd prefer "Use special lite fullscreen mode only at xnview start" or at least such option.
Maybe also an option "Never use special lite fullscreen mode"
Perhaps a "[x] Viewer Fullscreen in Browser" option would be a useful troubleshooting tool until problems are worked out? I read your original suggestions. If fullscreen should be fullscreen, then I don't expect anyone to know that a fullscreen-lite exists. That would make adding shortcuts and keyboard combinations for them pointless. I'm not sure I am even capable of being helpful on this issue. But, I should be able to spot a possible bug even while confused.Dreamer wrote: You mean probably this: (lite fullscreen is fullscreen in the browser)
marsh I fully agree with your thoughts. As demanded before, Fullscreen and fullscreen lite must be 100% identical. Anything else is not acceptable. The fullscreen lite is just a technical construct known to the programmer and perhaps some testers, but must not be visible in any way to the user (including options).
You can activate fullscreen from view mode or edit mode, or when you browse folders.
So when you are in edit/view mode, you can modify picture, in fullscreen too.
When you are in browser, you can view picture in fullscreen, so you can't edit it.
So to switch between different mode, i'll add option for LMB, MMB & enter
Perhaps to be not confusing, it's better to use the term EDIT, because when you are in view mode, you are in EDIT mode (not really view mode)
Do you have better terms?

"Fullscreen edit mode / Fullscreen browser mode"- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
"Browser, Edit mode, Edit fullscreen mode"- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard
Do you have better terms?
Pierre.
When you are in browser, you can VIEW picture in fullscreen. When you are in EDIT mode you view or edit in fullscreen mode. So no problem.marsh wrote:Perhaps a "[x] Viewer Fullscreen in Browser" option would be a useful troubleshooting tool until problems are worked out? I read your original suggestions. Great, thank youxnview wrote:Yes...Dreamer wrote:Like my "blue" suggestions?xnview wrote:So to switch between different mode, i'll add option for LMB, MMB & enter

Yes, my terms are just "working".xnview wrote:...but used terms are not good i think
We must find something better than:
- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
- Viewer and Browser
- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard
My English is not the best, so any (more) suggestions for:
Viewer:
- Viewer ?
Fullscreen Standard:
- ?
Browser:
- Browser ?
Fullscreen Lite:
- ?
What's wrong with the browser and viewer? That's how they're called in pretty much every other program, too.xnview wrote:We must find something better than:

And i thought we already said that there is no such thing as "fullscreen lite". It's just the viewer in fullscreen mode.
No, when you are in browser, you have fullscreen without EDIT mode. In edit mode you have fullscreen of EDIT mode. So it's not really a lite fullscreen like Dreamer said.Danny wrote:And i thought we already said that there is no such thing as "fullscreen lite". It's just the viewer in fullscreen mode.
