MP 0.38.7 Win: Crash when saving images

Post by -g- »

Here's how to reproduce on Windows XP:
  • Do a screen capture with the PrnScrn key
  • Open XnView MP
  • Paste the image with Ctrl+Shift+V
  • Select Save as... and save the image
  • XnView MP will crash, the image is saved, though
The crash seems to happen only when you paste an image from the clipboard but not if you modify an existing image. Also, the crash seems to be independent of the target file format.

The crash is fixed in 0.38.8. However, there's a couple of minor issues that I mention here for evaluation.

If you paste an image from the clipboard, the Save as... dialog will always default to the XnView installation folder. I guess it would be better if it remembered the last used folder or perhaps to have it default to the folder currently open in the Browser tab.

Also, after you save the image, the tab title says <Empty>. It should be updated but considering the way XnView currently handles image modifications it may be intentional and not an issue at all.

Oh yes very true :D I've always found this annoying in MP but in the past was too lazy myself to report it. :) I think this only occurs if programs settings are being saved to ini, so yes it needs to be fixed as it will get fixed.

Again very true, tab title should get updated to newly saved filename...Also too updated with latest Tab thumbnail/icon too for whichever file-type it is saved to.

Thanks -g-
