I disagree with having "Hide the tab bar when only one tab is opened"xnview wrote:You disagree??ckit wrote:Well, I disagree because I have "Hide the tab bar when only one website is open" UNCHECKED in Firefox 1.0.4 and thats the way I like it.
enabled by default (that is if it's hardcoded and can't be disabled) An option for "Hide the tab bar when only one tab is opened" to be enabled or disabled like Firefox would be best.
EgoSun, you are correct.

to clarify, ckit is saying he disagrees with the setting, not with the wording.
@ckit: we are discussing the wording the option should have. we are not talking about removing the option.

There's no doubt that there must be an option for showing/hiding the folder tabs area if only one window is open.
- Wording
Current wording is ''Hide the tab bar when only one tab is opened". As written in my post before, this wording has some flaws and should be changed to
"Hide tab bar when only one window is opened".
- Default setting
Like ckit, I'd prefer to have tab bar always for the following reasons:
- There's a lot of change on the screen if folder tab area is shown/hidden when opening/hiding a second window.
- People see right away that there is one window open, only.
So I suggest to deactivate this option by default and thus have the tab bar always unless you change this option.

I disagree, keep it the way it is, menu and options are "folder tabs" or at least for v1.80 and later we can change it. "Tab Bar" and "Window Bar" sound stupid in my opinion.Dreamer wrote:I think more important is to call one feature with one term.
Now we call it:
- in menu - folder tabs
- in options - tab bar
I don't like term folder tabs - I think it's confusing - maybe "Tab Bar" or "Window Bar"... What you think?

IMHO

- Though this doesn't pose any problem in French (the corresponding word “Onglet” for "Tab" is not ambiguous), I think that "Folder Tab" is false, since the tab "contains" a file the most times (the only exception is for the browser), and not a folder !
- So, "file-tab(s)" in the various texts and “Tab-header” or “Tab-bar” sound clear and meaningful for me in English… even if I'm not a native English speaker (having very ancient English roots, though…)

Now what is the correct wording for the option? ckit writes that 'Tab bar' is not a good expression.
My understanding was that "folder tabs" means all tabs and they are located in the "tab bar". So hiding the tab bar would hide the folder tabs.
Should the options say "Hide folder tabs when only one tab is opened" or "Hide tab bar when only one tab is opened"?
Native speakers, please help.
Note: In RC4 the tab bar is always visible, so the default setting of this option is o.k., now.

I think, we must use the same term - here, in options and in menu, so - folder tabs everywhere or tab bar everywhere.helmut wrote:Should the options say "Hide folder tabs when only one tab is opened" or "Hide tab bar when only one tab is opened"?
E.g.: If you want use "Hide tab bar when only one tab is opened" you must use tab bar also in menu to show/hide tab bar instead of folder tabs.
