ghostscript PDF crash

Post by rosehatten »

Hi all,
I recently changed from Vista to Windows 7, and now everytime I open XnviewMP or Xnview, it crashes. I am using the latest version of both programs.

The crash reports all say the fault module is gsdll32.dll. When I uninstall Ghostscript (version 854 32 bit AFPL ghostscript), things are fine, but then, of course, I can't view any pdf files.

My searches here haven't found a solution--maybe I'm not that good at search queries.

Would anyone have ideas to help me figure out how to get the ability to view pdf files, either by making ghostscript work or some other method?

Thanks for any help.

Using Ghostscript v9.0.2 32-bit and 64-bit installed, I have no crashes with either XnView or XnViewMP.

Time to upgrade, v9.0.4 is out too at http://ghostscript.com/

Thanks for the idea. I tried installing the new GS version, and things are better and worse. LOL

The good news is that I can open _some_ folders with some PDF files, but unfortunately not _all_ folders.
The bad news is that the PDFs don't display properly. If I use F3 to open them in PDF-Xchange viewer, they are partly scrambled. If I double click on them to open them in Xnview, they are just empty.

My laptop, running Vista, will display the PDFs fine in Xnview, and it only has GS GPL installed, not AFPL. It's all baffling to me.

Thanks again for trying to help.
