I think that 1.98 is a bit slower than MP on my main PC, for displaying the next image, but it is directly in good quality. MP, with the problem, is fast to display the bad quality version, but the total time for seeing the next image in good quality is quite more longer than 1.98.
Perhaps i have not understood the problem... You don't want to see low resolution before full resolution like in XnView 1.98?
On the other hand, I started to use MP because 1.98 is very very slow on my netbook.
I don't think that seeing the low resolution first is problematic. When it works at normal speed, it can just be noted. But it become problematic when it took more than one second to go in full resolution.
Again, when opening MP and NOT changing of folder, the loading and display of photo works perfectly. But it becomes quite slow after changing of folder.
About 1.98 on the netbook, yes it is quite slow while viewing. As the thumbnails are quite small, I like to go quickly over several photos to find the best. But with 1.98, the display of the next photo take more than 1 second on my netbook (but work perfectly on my desktop).
In fact, the use of low resolution image in MP is a big plus on the netbook, unfortunately, it don't work always like it should on my desktop.

I didn't tested a lot on the netbook, but I have one time used the same photos.
I have retested on the netbook with photos of similar sizes, and I don't see low resolution images.
I have one time copied the settings from one PC to the other, and I don't have changed the cache settings since.
The netbook is on Windows 7 32bits, and the desktop on Vista 64 bits.
But the more notable difference is the single (small) monitor of the netbook versus the two monitors of the desktop (with the normal windows of xnview on one and the fullscreen display on the other).
But I have tested on the desktop with using only one monitor (dual option disabled), I still have the low resolution latency (regardless of the monitor used).
But for me, a bug is still hidden somewhere, as even with low resolution, it works fine before changing of folder. But for now, I will work without low resolution.

I can't reproduce... You have same picture format in the 2 folders? JPEG?
Yes, photos from the same camera with the same JPEG settings.
I found a good setting for still having the speed advantage of the low resolution without the pixelized problem:
prevSize=@Size(1600 1050)
1600x1050 being the resolution of the monitor on which I have the fullscreen view.
The image move a little when the high resolution image replace the "low" resolution, but the quality is great now in both case, and the move don't bother me.
Maybe an option which enable the fullscreen view to take its resolution as prevSize would allow everybody to have it working.
Do a copy of both photos and place them in another directory. Going to one directory to the other, and then displaying the photos in fullscreen always triggers the problem on my PC.
Hi there,
had the same problem. The trick with the xnview.ini solves it. But it's still a workaround. If you need help to find the mistake, let me know.

You have the same problem. No low resolution preview before high resolution at startup, but yes after changing folder?

I've tried again, and can't reproduce.
Start XnView, (previewSize by default), F11, ESC, F11, ESC, go to another folder, F11 and same delay to show the picture...
Before to press F11, could you wait a little, do you have always the problem?
