MP 0.38.8 Win: A few misc. bugs

Post by -g- »

These are probably not necessarily bugs but I post them for reviewing.

1) If you're browsing nested folders with the mouse and you reach several folder levels so that you must use the horizontal scrollbar, when you click on a folder, the horizontal scrollbar position will be reset making browsing a bit annoying.

2) I guess this might be an actual bug. Here's how to reproduce:
  • Open an image
  • Select Image > Resize...
  • Resize the image. An asterisk will appear in the image tab indicating that the image has been modified
  • Select Save as... and save the image with a different name
  • The image name will be updated in the tab but the asterisk will we present indicating a modified image, which is obviously wrong
Somewhat related, when you paste an image from the clipboard and save it, the tab name won't be updated so the behavior is inconsistent.

3) More issues with the Resize dialog:
  • The megapixels size calculation is wrong. It seems to multiply the actual size by the color depth in bytes. So a 6132x8176 image will be displayed as 143.4 megapixels instead of the actual 48 megapixels it really is
  • Selecting one of the presets ignores the Keep ratio option even if it's selected

A couple more possible bugs in 0.38.8:
  • When launching XnView MP, the keyboard focus is not active on any panel. I guess keyboard focus should be initially set to the images panel.
  • I just found that XnView.db seems to store thumbnails for folders that have been browsed before even if the folders no longer exist. Perhaps XnView could actively check if the folders still exist as an alternative to the Optimize button in the DB settings? maybe as an option to automatically optimize the cache DB or a dialog telling the user that there's unneeded data stored in the DB?.
Also, I just clicked on Optimize and XnView reports a cache size of 19 MB but the individual items sum only 4 MB after optimization (the actual XnView.db size is 19 MB). Is this normal?.

Could you post some screenshot to undestand?
