Nice catch, that's indeed the case. The website's regular app version does work with .jpg, but not with .jpeg.

Would you kindly add the same backup functionality for .jpeg file extensions as well?
Also, I've noticed that multiple consecutive backups overwrite the previous one, not sure, but might it make sense to have an option to save backups in a similar fashion with suffixes (1), (2) etc. to make sure that lossless has no risk of a loss with the right config?

This problem is supposed to be fixed in
XnView MP 1.3.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Yes, it creates a backup file now, though the extension of the backup is incorrect — it's .jpg, not the original .jpeg
