This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.6.4. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Don't solved in 1.6.4 x64 (Windows 10).

But I have other problems (quick filter partially don't work, right mouse click don't show menu on [Category] tab, etc).
Anyway, I've been messing around with my system a bit lately. As soon as possible I will try with a new OS (or with a Virtual Machine) and then we'll see.

I also had the problem with black font but switching to light theme and then back to dark fixed the problem.

Actually the text turns black each time I reopen XnView. Clicking on dark theme solves the problem temporary.

I use the dark theme on Mac. Also I noticed the histogram type resets on app relaunch:
