Yes, this applies to MOV files and MP4 files.

which version do you had?
Unfortunately I haven't updated the program for quite a long time, so I can't specify the exact version.
One more question - how can I go back to some previous version that can play video files normally?

Unfortunately, I just had a new crash with 1.6.3. when switching back and forth between back to back videos. My CPU load when doing this was high from a calculation that was running in the background, but that should not have caused the freeze.

All in all, 1.6.3. seems more stable than 1.6.2. regarding videos, but the crashes still occur.

Thank you!
I reinstalled version 1.6.3 to the previous version 1.6.1 and the problem with video files normalized.
I'll stick with this version until a solution to the video file playback is found.
Thank you so much for your continued willingness to help and for creating this great program!
You are unique! :)

Yes, sure, I will send you the video files for an example, let me know where to send the files?
Playback using a browser or any other player is no problem.

XnView generates thumbnails of video files without any problems, but full screen video viewing is impossible - the "wait" symbol is constantly displayed and the program does not respond to anything else. It can be turned off only by forced reboot.

The same bug (crashes when flipping through files (only pics fine, mix pics/videos always crashes) and when creating thumbnails in very large folders) appears on versions from 1.6.2 and persists on version 1.6.3, the Windows log is attached below, I also tried to reinstall MS VS, I use Windows 11.

A little more research. The bug with creating thumbnails for large catalogs of video files (2000+) disappears in version 1.5.5, but the bug with viewing videos (mp4, webm) appeared only in version 1.6.2 and higher.

Hi, just jumping in, not sure if 100% related.

I've got a huge collection of video and pictures to sort. Guessing about 20 years, so there are a lot of different formats, which mostly goes well.
Since 1.63 XnView doesn't crash anymore - background: i had a temporary *-html5ified-dummy.mkv (produced by lossless-cut for indexing AVI). Thanks

In 1.62 the video thumbs were fine. i have 4 thumbs for every video activated, but since 1.63 i get 4 previews of the same frame, probably the last very frame, because it also happens the thumb is black. i checked settings, frame should be taken at 25%. i ticked the options a few times, restarted, but doesn't change its preview to the one from 1.62.

Thank you in advance, i appreciate your time and effort!
