Fit in, Fit over

So many "Auto image size" options, just 1 I need is still missing
I mean "Touch window from outside" option from MPC, perhaps ckit could explain it better, I want just get rid of black bars - horizontal or vertical, not just horizontal / just vertical.
Edit:
Existing features (only hotkeys suggestions):
- Fit width - Numpad 1
- Fit height - Numpad 3
New features (suggestions):
- Fit width and height ( = fit in) - Numpad 7
- Fit width or height ( = fit over) - Numpad 9
Why Numpad numbers? They are near other "fit image" keys Numpad / and * and also + / -, other numbers move large images, so all Numpad keys would be to move/zoom/fit image.
These options could be also saved on xnview exit.

I use "Touch window from Inside" with a 800x600 MPC window.
While I have a interest in digital video, I'm far from giving advice

OK... 4:3 AR (aspect ratio) - standard for most CRT monitors is OK, but new LCD monitors with ARs 5:4 or 16:10 have very thin black bars (e.g. all 4:3 images have thin strips on 5:4 LCDs), so it would be useful to have a picture at whole screen - those thin strips are not so important.
Since we have 4 similar options, I think this is at least as important / useful - and perhaps not so hard to implement, since just options "Fit to window width" and "Fit to window height" need to be "merged" (somehow), but I could be wrong, Pierre?

I support it.
In my suggestion about
Image size, it's called
"Fit over".

OK, if it will be added, then another suggestion:
- Shortcut - Shift+Numpad / (or Numpad 7, if it's free, then also Num 1 and Num 3 could be used for 2 existing options - Fit to width/height)

No, I mean "no black bars", so it's:
Fit width or height ( = fit over)
So we could change this request (I'll also edit first post):
Existing features (only hotkeys suggestions):
- Fit width - Numpad 1
- Fit height - Numpad 3
New features (suggestions):
- Fit width and height ( = fit in) - Numpad 7
- Fit width or height ( = fit over) - Numpad 9
Why Numpad numbers? They are near other "fit image" keys Numpad / and * and also + / -, other numbers move large images, so all Numpad keys would be to move/zoom/fit image.
These options could be also saved on xnview exit.

I don't follow you...

Another way to put it is "crop until no borders are left", or until aspect ratio matches the screen. It's not really a crop, since you ban still scroll around it. Instead of using the first edge that meets the border, like now, you use the other.
Wouldn't have much use for it myself, but hey, if others want it...

What he means is pretty much: stretch or shrink the image until it fits the whole screen without changing it's proportions.
I have no use for this. I would prefer less Auto-Image-Size options since the current amount is already confusing enough. But that's just me.

As I said, there are just very thin borders on some images if you have monitor with 5:4 or 16:10 AR (most of new LCDs), so this option would "zoom" image just a little bit. Or if you watch 4:3 images on wide 16:9 TV, there are borders on all images, this option would help also here...

I'd probably only use something like this with the occasional verrry long image, like
Space Lane or
tutorials like this (1200x30000, may crash browser!), although those particular ones are close enough to my resolution that living with a small border/crop is okay. Filmstrips like these are the only place I can see it being really useful.

I would use it quite often:
- to read/check very long horizontal/vertical documents, like Panorama, Comics/Texts...
- to check my photographs (cropped in different ratios) in large size without having to deal with X+Y panning like at 100%.
etc...
Dreamer, when I said "I don't follow you" it wasn't about understanding the feature. It was about understanding why you replied "No" to the parallel I made with "Fit over" in my previous suggestion. I still believe it's the same. Maybe my explanation there is not good, then...

I just said I meant "Fit width and height ( = fit in)", not "Fit width or height ( = fit over)", but I'm a bit confused now. Exactly I mean "zoom/crop until no borders are left". Anyway, both options (below) would be useful.
- Fit width and height ( = fit in) - Numpad 7
- Fit width or height ( = fit over) - Numpad 9
