Combine currently open images

Currently, in order to make a panarama or multipage image, you must use files that have already been saved. Even if you currently have all of those images open, you still have to re-open them through the appropriate dialog. Would it be possible to make it so that you can simply combine the images you already have open? This would be most useful when dealing with screenshots. For example, if you have to take several shots of a webpage because it's so long, then combine them into a single large image. Instead of having to save each little shot and then combine them, it'd be a lot easier to just combine them from the open tabs. Likewise, you may be taking multiple screen of a video or game and want to combine them into a single multipage file. Again, combining the currently opened tabs would be infinitely easier than saving each shot individually and then combining them.
