B/W conversion toolbar button
I'm trying to add the button to the toolbar for the b/w conversion. The best I could find was the "sepia" command. Is there a way to get more straightforward b/w button?
Not listed…

• As far as I see, the command to convert into B¦W is not listed among the allowed ones for the View tool-bar…

• The drop-down list we have there is inconvenient the hell…
- Moreover, it's limited, while other commands could be used, like you need.
• To improve this, I've proposed a Commands Manager page, a very handy feature but quite unsuccesfully till today,
no feedback from the Author yet…

There are a lot of inconsistent things in current version of XnView. For example "Brightness/Contrast..." menu has a shortcut, while "Saturation..." does not. Exotic things like "Gammasat" or "Conbright" are in the Image menu, while simple and important like "Sharpness" are hidden in the effects. Some actions are grouped in "Image/Map" while the others are in "Image/Adjust". Actions available for toolbars is just one of these inconsistencies.
There are two ways of improving: streamlining the interface or making it flexible and configurable. And I really hope for the later approach, since you can never satisfy everyone, but you can provide a tool to the user to build whatever set of features he wants.

More balanced…

Hi again !
- Moreover, the need of a transition between the old frozen system to the new one,
and also the three View modes don't ease the thingy…
- You could find a bunch of threads I opened or in which I wrote about this.
- Especially, one of the biggest hitch is that the designers didn't provide matching icons (a minimal set) for their skins.
I did, though…
- It's the reason for which I posted my proposal in the “Translation…“ section, this is strongly linked one another.
- For the Menus, I've a Menu page in progress @ home, but I can't end and show it as long as I don't get some feedback
and info from Our Dear Pierre
- Besides, user Stitscher has proposed a tool to configure the mouse-modes much better, please see also HERE
• Thank you for these pertinente remarks, that helps always to make the programme better !

- Yes, but it's so new too… We (I) had to fight for ages in order to get a feature for the buttons addition…Actions available for toolbars is just one of these inconsistencies. …

• Most certainly… For all these interfaces issues, we hope that the future languages as text will help a lot !…you can never satisfy everyone, but you can provide a tool to the user to build whatever set of features he wants.
