Adding Simple Graphics in XnView?

Post by Mike Truly »

I think I know the answer to this as I haven't been able to find it but I thought I would check before I request it.

Is there any way in XnView to add simple graphics to an image?

I have found that I can add text and this is good, but I would like to be able to add some simple graphics such as lines, circles, polygons, rectangles, etc.

I know XnView is not designed to be a graphics program but it would be very helpful if you could add these simple items to images for pointing out features of images, etc.

Thanks!
Sincerely,

Mike Truly

Thank you Claude! I guess it's not possible then.

I will add my request to the wishlist.

:) Like you can see from our Mr. Librarian's links, the request is done, supported and not refused…
- We need only to duplicate Pierre himself, because he's the only programmer :D

Thanks to all for the ideas! I am glad to see that I am not the first to desire some simple graphics capabilities in this great program!

One thought, and this may already be covered in one of the wishes. I am not a programmer and the request may be hard, but ideally, I would like to see a situation where the simple graphics (lines, circles, polygons, text, etc.) were done in such a way that a XnView VECTOR format could be used and saved and reloaded later.

For example, let's say I had an image and I wanted to put some annotations on to it such as some text, some lines, some circles. It would be nice to be able to apply the graphics in vector form for editability (re-sizing, moving around the image, etc.) and then the user could save only the XnView vector drawings to a separate vector file and they could re-load and use the same graphics over a different image later. When the user wants to apply the vector graphics to the underlying image, they would click 'Render' and the vector drawing would be rendered into the underlying image and the user would then choose to save this new image with the added drawings.

This would be very handy indeed. Just some ideas.

Thanks again.
Sincerely,

Mike Truly
