Fit/Resize and bg picture

Post by coverback »

Hello, I have two suggestions.
One of them was posted in Bugs but I don't think it's a bug, so I will mention it here.

First, it would be really great if 'Fit Window to Image' would have suboption 'Resize (shrink) image if larger than desktop' or smth like that.
When browsing wallpapers of large photos it'd be great. Now I either have to go maximized with 'Fit image to window, if larger' of press / on large pics when 'Fit to image' is selected.

Second one is about option to add some tiled background image, not only colour. I'd set it to grey/white square matrix like it's in Photoshop when using transparency.

Thank you very much for your work and for reading these suggestions.
Also, waiting for the Unicode very much. ;)

But it's not fit to desktop that you want?

Yes, will be added

Oh... >_< Thank you for pointing out, I guess I missed that option last time I tested...
The more I look into the options the more I like XnView.

After using your product for some time I can tell what I still miss in the Fit/resize.

When using fit to desktop, browsing though the folder is perfectly fine, but if I choose to display an image larger than desktop in 100%, by pressing *, for example, I get image resized, but shown in the same window, it is kind of inconvenient.

I mean situation like this:

What I'd like to suggest is still ACDSee behaviour. When pressing * it's be great for a window to resize itself so that as much picture can shown as possible, avoiding second scrollbar until all the desktop borders are reached, like this:

Thank you!

This has been asked for by a lot of people, including me, for a long time coverback. Sadly, as of yet nothing has ever happened in that direction.
Get the bugs fixed, THEN start adding features. It sucks, but someone has to do it.

I can't believe this has finally made it into the program. Thanks a bunch, Pierre.
