thumbnails in windows explorer

Post by aliax »

Is it reel to making DLL for viewing thumbnails in windows explorer? For all xnView image formats, of course.

I just find something like this here: "Koshigaya ThumbnailSupport"
http://www.koshigaya.de/?content=tools

but this program not support exr, hdr and not work correctly from windows Vista. And It very slow for something formats (iff for example).

Thanks for good soft!

You have XnView Shell extension :-)

I mean viewing thumbnails in explorer, not in pop-up menu like shell extension.

:) Hello !

• AFAIK, you can already watch thumb nails in Win Explorer - at least with XP - …

- You can see thumb nails in the file panels from XnView using Total Commander instead, for instance…

Hi Clo :)

I was curious about your proposed solution and did a little snooping around on Ghistler's sites:
TotalcmdWiki: (Lister) wrote:Extensions

Additional file formats can be supported in Lister using:
 • Lister plugins: Install them in the Lister Configuration dialog, you'll be able to load many non-standard formats in Plugins mode.
 • IrfanView and XnView: Check corresponding option in the Lister Configuration dialog, you'll be able to load graphics other than BMP in Image/Multimedia mode.

In panels

Post by Clo »

:) Hello Mr. Librarian!

• Indeed TC can display the thumb nails in the panels, provided by XnView (or else).

• Just look at the TC TUTORIAL  Follow Show Menu —> Thumb nail View… from the Interface image-map.

• Also described (for short) in our XnView Manual.
- Nothing to do with the “Lister” view you quote, this is another function…
BTW : The TC-Wiki is not really the good place to get such an info…
- I didn't even add a French section, that sucks, and I've no time to spend at this.

OK, got it: Total Commander Tutorial » Configuration » Thumb-nails » Screenshot

Here's an XP-style screenshot from this forum:

Thank you, thank you,

... but I'm afraid I don't even deserve the bronze medal, as I wasn't able to come up with a screen grab of Total Commander with integrated XnView. :-|

mmm....
I can already see thumbnails in explorer but only bmp, tiff and Jpg.
I want to see thumbnails for all image formats.
Total commander is not actually what I want, because thumbnails in explorer is visible in open/save dialogs for different programs also.

Sorry for my english :-)
