What is story with multi-page .tif documents?

I have noticed strange things with multi-page tiff documents.

In another thread, I noted that if I set up a color palette on one page, the palette went away when I moved to another page.

I have noticed that if I de-skew a page, move to another page, and return to the de-skewed page, it is not longer de-skewed.

I have also noticed that if I try to save such a document, I get a message saying only one page will be saved.

I have tried this only with .tif files and do not know if the same happens with other multi-page formats.

What is the story on xnview and multi-page tiff files.
