:) Hello !

YEP ! I reported the same issue in the French section, and I worked that night
with Paul-“Ouistiti” friend in order to track the cause¦s !
• It seems it's caused by the "File List" page in the Options >> Browser which turns cleared when updating to 1.91.6 !
- This starts to occur too here when the programme is set in a non-English language.
- Also : In the abovementioned option page, try to set 999999 in the two upper¦ right fields,
currently there is “0” that is abnormal.
- Set the programme in English (thus, it doesn't use any language DLL…)
- The thumb nails might appear again…

- That :bugconfirmed: seems random according to the PCs and the OS, and so difficult to reproduce. Thanks for that feedback.

:mrgreen: Kind regards,
Claude

Worse and worse

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

• Now, even my "General" option page turns empty, despite I ticked many boxes…
When I reopen it, all is unticked again, even restarting XnView.
- The INI is written though. There is a hitch with the language DLL. :?

Moreover, I had to remake the settings of an old 1.80.3 I've too, all was lost when I started it…
- Something goes wrong in the order of reading about the INIs location, or something in the same painting, it seems.

???? With your old .ini, xnview 1.91.6 reset many settings?

Pftttttttttttt--------------

:) With any INI, even starting with no INI at all. This is a vicious circle, since the INI is created in <user>,
while I set <XnView> always…
- That's the only version that behaves like this.
- I can get it working, but the options status is not displayed,
although they are used when I place a complete INI in the programme dir.

- And I run XP-Pro SP1.

Perhaps you could send me your .ini to check?

Hello

FYI
I had this trouble yesterday with your personal xnviewfr.dll Clo, maybe you have to update this xnviewfr.dll file (in the zip xnview1.91.6 file) or use mine !

No matter…

:) Hello !

• That occurs the same with the original French DLL from the ZIP package.
- I add that it happened the first time with that original DLL.
- Moreover, my corrected DLL is made from the newest 1.91.6 one.
- Nothing changed in the Menus (because the dynamic items)…

«Hurrah for languages text files ! » :P

Continuation…

Post by Clo »

:arrow: oops66

:) Hello !

• I continued the tests, and I got the empty “File list” page even with the programme set in German !
- I would bet that the German DLL is quite original…
- Then playing with the settings, I could get the French again,
but prior a part of the strings remained in German, like shown below :

ImageImage

• Prior, there were more strings still in German, but they have been replaced with French ones at each time I made something,
i.e. open a file from its thumb nail, close, open another…
- I got all in French finally…
- Like helmut reports HERE, there's a hitch in the language change, I can confirm.

• Having several versions in that PC, I thought that the single registry entry could put the mess since I had :

   Image

showing that the icons of the tool-bar (normally with the “cream” BG)
are mixed with those of the 1.91.6 version drawn with “mice”
(and not running at the same time). Moreover, that Alpha was only in English :P
- Hoping to fix that, I modified the single existing registry key,
then wrote and set another key for the 1.84 version I use daily too for simple operations (it's faster, a good version…) :

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\XnView]
"LicenseName"="Claude Charries"
"LicenseNumber"="**********"
"IniFileName"=".\\xnview.ini"
"InstallDir"="E:\\XnVIew_190_beta"
¤ Related to the 1.91.6

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\XnView]
"LicenseName"="Claude Charries"
"LicenseNumber"="**********"
"IniFileName"=".\\xnview.ini"
"InstallDir"="E:\\XnView_alpha"
¤ Related to the 1.82.4
- It seems that it helps. I'd to remake some configuration, though…
- Other old versions work too now (1.80.00 and 1.80.3)

- I hope that Pierre'll discover the naughty wrong small piece of code.
(Aside :   Pierre, pleeeease, let skip the infinite sub-versions numbering to get the 2.0 sooner…)

I use sub-versions because there is no new features, and the 2.0 is not for soon...

I risk…

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !
Your dll is very strange! Do you have problem with original dll??
• I can get that in two ways :
1. About the bug, yes, it began with your original DLL, not any change in it.
Please notice that the thread starter here has the bug too, and I don't guess he uses my DLL…
- I get the bug even with the German language, like said above.
2. Yes, I've another kind of problem : I risk a lethal heart crisis when using it… :P

• How is it strange ? I could use ResourceHacker till the 1.90.1 or so to correct the DLL without any problem.
- Roughly, till you used dynamic menu items… Image
- And I didn't remove any resource in the DLL I sent to you. If some are missing, that's abnormal,
that doesn't occur with other stuff…
…I use sub-versions because there is no new features, and the 2.0 is not for soon...
- Too bad… I'll have to find another solution… :(

Very strange, i can't reproduce it :-(
Do you have tried to download it again? Could you try on another PC?

Currently i have not the time to work on the 2.0 version...

:) Again…
…Do you have tried to download it again?
• Yes, I did. Paul and I checked our CRCs (MD5) for the original DLL and the EXE, they match.
…Could you try on another PC?
• Unfortunately, not currently, my two other machines are broken…
- There is only my son's laptop, but he's away the most times, and I can't use it. :|
…Currently i have not the time to work on the 2.0 version...
• “A started task is half done…”. I've some ideas to advance at this…
