Maybe it is good here to mention another 'auto-refresh' feature that seems odd.
I select an image thumbnail so that it appears in the lower left window.
I modify the image in Photoshop and save it.
I come back to XnView. The thumbnail now shows the modified image as thumbnail, and the old version of the image in the lower left window. Surely this can't be right?

Re previous two messages.
I now have found a way to get the left-window image different from the thumbnail image of the same file.
Can only be a bug, I'd say.
But probably not relevant to this thread.

However, if you do want to see what I mean:
Select a thumbnail. Its image then appears in the left window.
Switch to another directory and back again.
Now the left-window image is still there but the thumbnail is no longer selected.
Modify the image in Photoshop and save.
Return to Xview. The thumbnail now shows the modified form of the image. The left-window still shows the old form of the image.

Ok, do you think that it's better when you change to another directory, to erase the preview?
Pierre.

I don't much mind.

Also, I haven't kept detailed notes, but I think there are other ways of getting preview and thumbnail inconsistent.

The important point is that whenever the same image appears twice on the screen - once as a thumbnail, once as a preview - it MUST be the same version of the imagefile in both places.
Otherwise the system is displaying wrong information.
