Swapping IPTC

Post by camel »

Hi

Does anybody know how to swap all the IPTC fields of a folder?

I have a lot of photos with entries in the wrong fields. I would like to put all entries that are in Object name, into the headline field. How do I do this without doing it manually photo by photo!

Thanks

Hello,
Exifer,I don't think so Frank, but exiftool yes :
ExifTool:
http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/#top

(And maybe with some exitool's GUI too ? )

... Exifer can - o.k., not exactly swap, but copy the content of IPTC fields to other fields. Just got to the "Exif/IPTC"-menu, choose "edit...", goto the tab with the IPTC data, click the triangle after the IPTC field you want to copy the content of another field to and choose the respective field in the "insert from"-list. Works great! :D

That helps immensely!

A shortcoming I have found with exifer is that you can't apply a batch to a root directory and it applies the function to all sub files.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Big up to XNview for this great feature! :D

Try GeoSetter at http://www.geosetter.de/en/index.html. This is a current and actively developed programme by the same author as Exifer and it uses the most recent Exiftools.

It is a very good and versatile programme for geo tagging (from GPS or Google Earth) and setting XML IPTC and other tags.

You can batch copy a field from one tag to another or batch load from template.

I don't think you can batch delete a field directly or by copying a tag known to be empty to the tag you want deleted. Maybe there is a way.

Swapping IPTC

Would it not be possible to do this, by doing a convert and then running a script that does this swop? I don't know what the script would be though. Anybody have any ideas for this script?

:D
