Quick filtering in browser

Did some quick searching to see if this has been discussed but couldn't find anything, so...

How about a quick filter box in the browser view (like next to the 'address' line) that you can write into and it filters the filelist to show only the files which have the written word/phrase in the filename?

Quick filter would be perfect, especially with the flat view (Show files in subfolders). Quick filter field + keyboard shortcuts, of course. Ctrl+Y looks free in browser and it's the same as in FreeCommander (not sure about TC).

Incidentally, TC doesn't have an equivalent function, though there is an available 3rd party toolbar utility that implements it, called TC QuickSearch.

The FC version works extremely well (virtually instantly), but has no facility to save the quick search masks in a dropdown combo.

A combo control which displays previous quick searches seems de rigeur to me.

I just tried out the multi platform version of XnView and realized it has this feature. Sadly it's too early in development for me to use regularly...
Are there plans to put this in the Windows-version?

A quick search box is the most important feature missing in xnview i.m.o.

Agree with JohnFredC about TC QuickSearch.
It works very well in Total Commander.
I'm searching a thing like TC QuickSearch in Xnview Browser view (in an always available search box in the toolbar)
