Renaming .nef files does not work

Hi there,

I tried to rename some .nef file from my new Nikon D70 (each 5 MB).
It won't work --> always the same mistake --> "Error renaming file" (German: "Fehler beim Umbenennen der Datei").

Does anybody know why? The files are not corrupt or secured or something else.

Be grateful for any advice/help.

I've just renamed a sample .nef in the browser using "F2" without any problems. Which steps are you using?

I think you've made sure that the files are not read-only. Perhaps another application is still acessing the files? Does renaming in MS Explorer work?
