This is an important feature for me.
It could be realized using hot edges that make extra functions visible.
Moving the mouse pointer to a specified corner or edge of the screen, a panel could pop-up showing the current rating (maybe other things like filename and meta data can be included in the same panel if the user selects this in the preferences) and allowing to change it.
The "hot areas" topic has been discussed before as a means for a displaying thumbs of previous/next pictures right in full screen mode for example:
"Full screen with "hot areas" for mouse cursor"

Re: Rating in full screen mode
It is possible with hotkey, see http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 556#p78550
I'd also like a "hot area" or context entry that is available in both full screen modes, as in fullscreen after viewer+F11 I might also go to files I did not edit, but just view them (that's what "viewer" suggests, eh?
) and want to rate them.

In the XnView Wiki, you can improve the user guide / documentation / F1-help for XnView (classic/Windows) and for XnViewMP
