QT4 core efficiency

Post by oops66 »

I noticed a strange difference between xnview-mp-alpha.015 windows version and xnview-mp-alpha.015 linux version both under the same system (linux Ubuntu).

The qt4 core efficiency is better under the Windows MP version (even under Wine v1.1.1 & Ubuntu 8.04) than the Linux MP version (directly under Ubuntu 8.04).

Under the MP Windows version:
I do not have some system freeze, sometimes.
The high quality zoom behavior is better (faster but with a different texture).
But, Into the browser mode, the sort is not the same for the directories tree (sort by ?) and for the thumbnails (sort by name ascending) - maybe a bug ?

Hello Pierre,
I have this kind of problems only with the MP linux version when :

I try to browse into a large thumbnails window with many files or when i try to resize the layout windows...
...But i think this bug come from QT4 core system management under Linux, not from the XnView-MP-unix-alfa.015 binary , because I have not this kind of problem with XnView-MP-Win-alfa.015 under Wine & Ubuntu, but ???

I'm using XnView QT by placing only the program in /usr/local/bin while having package manager install another QT 4 application (which require same componenents)- just another way of running it (in case you're using another method and if your OS's file versions are up to date).

And with older version, you have the same delay/freeze?

Hello Marsh and Pierre,
Yes, OS's file versions are up to date.
I have tried your way ( by placing only the program in /usr/local/bin while having package manager install another QT 4 application) and i have the same problem with the MP linux 0.015 version.

I have tested again the :
v0.001 : I do not have this problem
v0.005 : I have this behavior sometimes only
v0.015 : I have this problem very often (too often)
I notice, when this "delay/freeze" occurs, the CPU system activity is at about 60% (too hight) and User system activity at 40% (normal), and I don't have this behavior (CPU system activity too hight) and not this problem with the v 0.0001.
Seems to be an xnview problem then ?

I means a freeze when you resize window?
Pierre.

Strange, i've tried again (on ubuntu), and no problem with resizing or wheel.
Which distri do you have?
Pierre.

Yes very strange. You start xnview, and resize the main window, that's all?
