Map for geotagged images

Post by Danger_1 » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:39 pm

Geotagging pictures becomes very popular in the last days.

But there is no program available to show the location of the pictures
on an offline-worldmap.

XnView could integrate a small offline-worldmap (perhaps zoomable) or a globe that marks the location with a red dot in the preview window similar to the tabs for histogramm, exif- and iptc data.

I support this request. Especially if I want to give friends a CD/DVD with pictures or make a presentation somewhere without internet.

+1!

Perhaps also automatically dispaly the Country and City in Fullscreen information for example. I'm not sure if this is possible offline, or at least online somehow, but if so, it would be nice.

More suggestions:

- show the GPS data as link - most users don't know the option "open GPS in google maps", or even don't know what is means, this would be good and intuitive way

- show the map within xnview, as preview, or in view mode, if possible (using a button or link to quickly toggle between the (pre)view of the image and the map)

- show the map (online or offline) in custom preview (requested here)
