Improve support for XCF file - Feedback please!

Some time ago I posted a suggestion to improve support for XCF file format. I didn't get any feedback at all. I tried to find another alternative but didn't find anything.

It seems to me that this software seems to have potential for that file type. I was wondering why no development is not being made. More and more people are using GIMP, partially because it is multiplatform and partially because it is free and comparable to the $1000k Photoshop.

FYI: +1, I agree and support this improvement (a better GIMP support).
