Workflow "Ignore Alpha Channel" ?

Post by sublist »

Hi there.

If i have an image with alpha channel, i would like to see it without the channel but still be able to press "M" to jump into the channel to see it.
But it seems that i have only the possibility to turn that feature on/off.

If a turn it off, i'm not able to see the alpha channel?
Cannot believe this...

Thanxs...

This option is to not read alpha channel from picture, so only some users need it. This option must be disabled if you want to keep alpha channel

And now the opposite:

if I have an image without an alpha-channel,
is there someway to add an alpha-channel to that image,
using XnView ??

Imagine you habe 100 *.tga files some with alpha and some without alpha.

Now you want to browse through those files and have a look a the RGB Channel Only and the Alpha Channel Only if available.

If the Alpha Channel is Black you Image will be displayed fully Transparent and you cannont the the RBG Channel.
Now you must go to the Options and turn on "Ignore Alpha" for this Image to see the RGB Channel.
In an other Image you want to see the Alpha Channel and now you have to turn this off again.

That impossible to handle. Most of the other Programs support this.

Why not just have an option "Don't mask Image with Alpha"

No this setting is not for that, it's to disable the alpha support.
You have 'use Mask' in popup menu
