Xnview, like VLC, is a very complete and sophisticated software. In VLC they implemented an "easy mode" for setting preferences, as most users don't need to look at most of the settings.
The preferences in XV, even after years of using, don't appear logical and well-organised to me. A positive effect is that you can always find surprises, but for a "normal" user it's just badly implemented and functions are difficult to find.
If we could have the preferences set just the way most people like it for a first install, and afterwards propose an "expert" and "beginner" mode for the preferences, that would be nice (in my opinion). We could even throw in extra functions in the expert mode for the many geeks among us... what do you think?
