Wildcards in Batch Rename?

I have a bunch of images that are named rather oddly. The pattern is:

<Base> - <filenumber>.jpg<extra>.jpg

As a batch I want to shorten them to:

<Base> - <filenumber>.jpg

I want to keep the original <filenumber>. The <extra> are variable in the origianl files.
