Don't open images maximised

Post by Ben »

Hi all

Just coming from using Paintshop Pro as an image browser and started using XnView - overall I love it. One issue is really driving me nuts though, and I can't seem to find the solution on the forums...

I use dual monitors and have the browser as a floating window on the left monitor; I need to compare images side-by-side so would like to have them open in floating windows when I click a thumbnail. Currently they each open maximised, filling the whole 2 monitors, so I have to click restore, then manually resize the window, which is a bit too long-winded when there are lots of files to go through.

So - is there any way to have images open in a floating window, and not maximised??

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ben,
I use dual monitors
same with me. I'm opening two instances of XnView
1. thumbs on the left and full display on the right monitor
2. vice versa

Ha - nice trick. Thanks for the tip horst, works well to get around a simple shortcoming (if coming from Photoshop or Paintshop Pro) with the program.

Fingers crossed the developers consider introducing basic Photoshop/PSP-style window handling in a version soon.

Why does it always open a full screen window, even if I had changed the window size and closed it then?

You talk about the MDI child window, and not the main window, right?

That is a fine option, but you may not scroll to the next picture:
As long as the 'compare window' is opend, you don't have any access to the main window (the browser) of XnView

I am talking about the 'Compare Picture' window - maybe that is an MDI window, don't know.
