XnView on U3 device loses settings.

Post by Guest »

I'm new to this forum but I've been using XnView for a little while now. It's a great programme.

However, I also have it installed on a U3 USB device. Every time the device is removed and then re-inserted into a PC everything set-up in the options reverts to the default settings.

This is really annoying and limits its usability on a transportable device. Any way I can get it to keep the same settings please?

Have you checked your settings:

Code: Select all

F12 - System Integration - Save options - as INI in folder XnView

Thanks, but that doesn't work - it still loses the settings when transferred to another computer.

However, if it's saved in the registry it will retain the settings for that PC. To use it on another computer the settings have to be reset again and then saved in the registry - a bit tedious!

This works OK if its always the same computers its plugged into but not practical for using on a variety of computers.

:) Hello !

• Just a thought :

- Needs to add a control¦radio-button in the Options >> System Integration to state
a fixed “wildcard path” as *:\.\ for all needed files like :
(•) All config. files in the XnView dir. (for USB devices only)- When ticked, all other locations are disabled, of course…
- I guess it doesn't work currently with only the XnView dir - as it's in the options - because the drive letter changes
for every machine the USB device is used with…
- I don't say that the above syntax is right “as is”, but simply that it's a way to try with your codes…
