First thumbnail in a folder often disappear.

If a see a folder in "thumbnail mode" Xnview hide the first thumbnail.
For example: I have a folder with 10 images. I go to that folder from inside xnview. Xnview create the thumbnail but only for 9 images. The first one is created but immediately disappear so I see only 9 thumbnail
This happen not always, but very often!

It is very dangerous because it's easy to delete a folder that I see empty instead there is one picture in it.

A very dangeorus bug!!!
It happened also with the previous version.

• I cannot confirm, I tested a folder containing 28 pics, all are shown on the board of thumb nails and remain there !
- In the status-bar, I see 29 objetcs, as it is.
- Please tell us more details about this¦these "image-eater" folder¦s, which type is into, OS etc.…

This happens because of filter opt
I see this all the time
the 1 'missing' thumb is something that later it decides should NOT be shown in thumb view
usually as 'all other files' setting

I'm using the "images" filter. Thumbnail mode. Win2000 sp4.

This strange bug happens using any folder in every location. But not always.
It happens only when I explore a folder for the first time.

This is what happen precisely:
I click a folder in the folders tree view.
Xnview create a thumbnail for every image (it take just a second or two)
I see all the thumbnail for just 1 second then the first disappear!
It doesn't matter ehat kind of image is, can be a jpg, a tga, gif, any kind.

If now i change folder and then go back to the fist folder that thumbnail will not appear.

If I press F5 to refresh xnview snas the folder again and this time the lost thumbnail appear! Now everything works.

I hate this behaviour because I deleted folder from inside xnview thinking they were empty insead there was a picture in them! Sob...sob....

Thank you for your replies!!! Please help me to find how to avoid this bug.
If this happen only to me and few other it means that there is a solution!

In these hour I do lots of expreriment.
I also deleted the ini files of xnview.
But nothing changed.

Now I know a few more thing about this bug!
Some things I sayd in my previous post were not correct!! Sorry.

This is exactly what happen:
I see a folder for the first time.
I'm in thumbnail mode and using image filter (but happens also using the other filters)
Xnview create the thumbnails.
90% of the time it creates all the thumbnail.
10% of the time instead the first thumbnail is not created. Instead of a thumbnail I see the icon of the file with the file name below. This icon sometimes it reamins in place, sometimes it disappear when Xnview end to create the other thumbnails.
If I go to another folder and come back to the first one the icon is substituted with the correct thumbnail!!!

So to be sure to see all the thumbnail I have to see another folder and come back to the first one! Pressing F5 is not helpful in this case

The missing thumbnail is always the first in the folder (the fisrt by date, the first by name etc.)!
Is it always an image (jpg, tga etc). Of course is the first image if i'm using the image filter. It will be the first videos if I'm using the video filter etc.

Strange, and this first image is good, right?
You have changed something in default ini? You should see '..'?

I've encountered this occasionally over the years.... no apparent regularity to it for me.

My first guess is that a loop counter (used to iterate through the thumbs) is initialized to the wrong value. 1 instead of 0, for instance.

Now a few answer!
The images that don't create thumbnail are always perfect! No errors at all.
Actually when a swithc folder and come back Xnview make a perfect thumbnail for them.

I always change a few options of Xnview. One of this is that I remove folders and the ".." folder from the thumbnail.
I tried turning that on...nothing change! The fisrt thumbnail often is not created.

I really hope you will find the reason for this, it's not really important but it is quite annoying.

If other people want to try this bug do this:
Create a few folders (more is better) and put 2 or 3 images in every folder.
Run xnview and go to that folder. Use thumbnail mode and image filter.
Now see all the folders.
If sometimes the first picture has no thumbnail you have my same problem.

Don't forget! The secondo time you go to that folders everything will works again! The problem is the first time you see a new folder!

Nothing change!
The first image thumbnail is often non created

Today I will try on another computer....just to see if happen also there.
