I make animations.
I use very large image sequences to make them (ie. 5000 pieces of 2500x1400px PNG files)
And very often I like to use XNView to preview the large image files before combining them into a video file animation like .avi or .wmv. - But the previewing is very slow.
In F12 >> View >> Misc. >> Cache there is the choice for 'Read one image ahead'
I would love to see an option to make XNView to load constantly like 50 images ahead to RAM, so that it would be incredibly fast to view my image sequence just by holding the right arrow down. (Maybe even to view the animation backwards by holding the left-arrow down.)
The RAM-preloading could be also applied to the F12 >> View >> Fullscreen >> Auto Image Size, when there is the "Fit image to window, all" option selected.
It takes very long time to view the next large image if it has to be first resized to the screen before viewing (especially if there is the high quality zoom enabled). With preloading and pre-resizing it in advance would make this program incredibly much better in my mind.
But it sure is one superb image-browser already
