I know there are programs which can do this, but it looks none of them is perfect. More here.
...So is there any chance to add this feature to XnView?

Good news! Thanks, Pierre.
rra - yes, this is very important! I'm testing GeoSetter, it has many features, templates, but it's not very intuitive IMHO. Searching doesn't work good - as in XnView, it can't show all images with the searched word - flat view must be used and then filter, it works good then, but it's not very good to show all files (100 000?) at once.
...So I'd like to have as intuitive and easy to use way as possible.
There should be one setup dialog with:
- the map
- dialog to select which items would be saved and where (Coordinates, Country, State, City... / EXIF, IPTC, XMP)
- option to preserve file date and time (enabled by default)
- option to automatically overwrite original files (enabled by default)
- option to save template
- option select default template
And the options:
- search and flat view (already implemented and working great, just small improvements are needed - e.g. search files with/without the coordinates...)
- "Geotags template (mini-toolbar) button" * (with the list of templates as submenu button) to apply geotags to all selected images at once
- get GPS data from another image and apply to the selected images (button, shortcut, menu item) - it might be possible to copy the image to clipboard and then just paste to use in this dialog / option
* "Geotags template button" is most important, since once the templates are created, it will be the only button needed to add geotags to images quickly. It should have a sub-menu button (as View mini-toolbar button). Submenu items would be the list of templates, main button should work perhaps as last used, or mostly used - customizable, for home. One template might be default, it would be home for most users and this default template would be used for the main button.
** "Geotags template (mini-toolbar) button" should be just one control, of course also the menu item and keyboard shortcut (for main/default function and to show the menu with templates, the same as Ctrl+F1 for favourites).
