I have some tif files created by Corel PhotoPaint x4 that xnView does not recognize as tif. Irfanview and Photoshop Elements 5 have no trouble with them. Examining them using AsTiffTagViewer I find no difference in the tags, however when each one with a problem is opened there is a message reading AsCodec TIFF 4803.92 with an OK box to click. This message does not appear on the files that xnView recognizes as tif.
I am running Windows XP sp3 with 2 gB of memory. All the settings in xnView are default.
I love the program and appreciate its availability. I will submit a sample file.

Did you get an answer on your question? What was the soultion?
I have this same issue now, xnview opens the tif, but AsTiffTagViewer shows the error.
