Suggestion> Other assignment for shortcuts F8-F11

Post by helmut »

For the various views (Detail view, Thumbnails, ...) there are the function keys F8 - F11 reserved as shortcuts.

Personally I never use these function keys since I find them non-intuitive. They are spread over two blocks of function keys on the keyboard.

I wonder whether there should be one short cut only, which toggles through all the views. This way, three valuable function keys could become shortcuts for something else.

Note:
Overview of shortcuts and suggestions can be found in topic 'More hotkeys, shortcuts...'.

I agree. I'm using that keys (esp. for switching between thumbnail and detail view) but never know if I hit the right key :| . I like your "one key" idea, I suggest F8 or F9. I'll try to find some options for the other keys...

I agree to dreamer. I use only the keys F8 and F10 but I really have to think every new day which one to use for which purpose. But at my natural keyboard at home they are in the same block F6 to F12.
F11 is in my WinNC for file properties. The other option would be F11 for fullscreen like in many browsers.
Is there already a shortcut for screenshots? That would also be nice.
Just some suggestions,

F11 key for fullscreen already works in Viewer, but it would be nice if it would be working also in the Browser (and also existing Ctrl+F or F - suggested by me)

F11 key is already used for capture (not sure if it's by default) it can be changed to all 'F' keys but a direct hotkey for capture/snap would be nice - I suggest Scroll Lock (or/and Print Screen)

F11 and Ctrl+F for fullscreen sounds good to me (Consistency is always good).

Print Screen for capturing is always a good idea, but this might be difficult to implement.

I suggest the current cycle - thumbnails > icons > details > list - because most users switch between thumbnails and details only and they could press the F8 or F9 key twice every time, I hope you understand what I mean.

OK, then check "Reopen (view mode)..." too, under More Hotkeys...

Why you think? Pierre wants to implement Pause/Break key for start/stop slideshow, it seems quite the same, also other programs are using Print Screen or/and Scroll Lock for capturing...
