Saving Images

I am having trouble saving files after editing.....

For some reason save as loses the directory from which it was loaded....this makes me look through all my directories to find where it came from...or to simply save as a different file type.....

At least one program I use has save (same directory) which works well.....

This is the option I leave unmarked:
Options>General>Operations tab>[ ]After 'Save as', change filename

Thanks.....but I noticed with new version today.....save as was keeping the original directory......without that being checked....but I checked it and it still is working....oh well....

Hmm... it must be the other one:
Options>General>File Operations tab>[x]For 'Save as', use same original pathname & format
If I use 'save as' to other directories, it returns to original each time with this checked.

Yes that is the one I checked and unchecked.....and it seems to work either way....

I have struggled with some differences as I convert from using FastStone as browser and IrfanView for editing/running plugins.....Drag and Drop and paste into preview view are still areas to relearn......
