Well the problem I'm having is that the shell extension shows up in my right click context menu but none of the features of it work, I don't get a preview thumbnail, the convert menu opens and lets me pick a format to convert to but it never does the conversion, the 'Options' menu item doesn't do anything, you name it nothing on the shell extension menu works for me. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it (full version of XnView and just the Shell Extension both), I've tried cleaning the registry after each uninstall, I've gone so far as to install Sage Thumbs in the hopes that it would fix whatever registry setting the XnView shell extension relies on, none of which have made any improvement. I can't say for sure when it stopped working (it used to work perfectly for me), maybe some time after I installed Photoshop CS4. It's possible the problem started after I tried irfanview too, not really sure, I was searching for a way to convert some old Adobe Illustrator 3.0 files I had (XnView doesn't seem to support this format), so I tried a number of different programs actually, as such I never really noticed if the shell extension stopped working before or after I tried them. What I'm hoping is that someone might be able to shed some light on what registry entries XnView relies on and what the correct values should be for those entries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

P.S. - I'm running Windows XP Professional 32 bit

If XnView can't load your file, XnViewShellExt will have same problemI was searching for a way to convert some old Adobe Illustrator 3.0 files I had (XnView doesn't seem to support this format)

Re: Shell Extension Not Working
I have a similar problem: installed XN View 1.96.5 on Windows 7 32 bit, and everything is working fine except I cannot see thumbnails for PSD files in the shell extension right-click menu, although I can open them correctly in XN View. This occurs on all my Win7 machines with Photosho CS4 files...
