After batch converting NIKON RAW files (NEF) to JPEG strange purple stripe 41x2868 px (R179,G94,B187) appears on the left side of converted photo (or on the top when converting vertical photos). NEF files come from recently released Nikon D5000 Camera (10.2 MPix). When I convert NEFs from my last camera NIKON D50 - everything is all right...
Strange thing is that Xnview informs that both NEF and converted JPG are exactly the same size - 4288x2848, when NIKON ViewNX (free software for nikon cameras given on CD by producer with every camera) shows: NEF 4288x2848, JPG 4351x2868. Next strange fact is that after conversion the purple stripe appears in xnview even on NEF files! If I open those NEFs in ViewNX there is no stripe visible, again when opening them in xnview there it is!
JPEG write parametres:

-YES Keep EXIF & IPTC data
-NO Keep XMP
-YES Keep ICC Profile
-YES Rebuild thumbnail
-NO Use estimated quality
-DCT Slow
-Smoothong ZERO
-Subsampling (best quality)
RAW read parametres:
-YES high resolution
-YES Auto WB
-YES C WB
-YES Auto brightness
-Gamma, brightness, R&B scaling 1,0
Any ideas?
I uploaded example NEF & converter JPG file compressed using RAR here: http://www.szabelski.net/!!!!xnview_bug ... PG&NEF.rar.
Can you confirm the bug? I've tried on Windows XP and Windows 7 preRTM...

Do you use last version? Could you send me the converted jpeg file?

Re: Purple stripe after RAW conversion
Yes I use the latest release of xnview. There's a link to NEF and converted JPG in first post.

Re: Purple stripe after RAW conversion
I also removed xnview.ini to check if it is affected by settings. Well it is not.
NEF files seems to be corrupted after beeing converted!
But later on I found something interesting online.
It seems that picassa has the same problem! http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/P ... 4c38&hl=en
The same with Adobe camera RAW: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/432076
So it guess that NIkon d5000 introduced some modified RAW (NEF) format, which is not supported yet by photo imaging software (except NIKON software).
Is that right?
I would consider it as "must fix" for next xnview release.
