I am brand new to XNview (just installed the latest version last night).
I had a folder browser opened. I wanted to assign categories to a bunch of files. I switched to Categories tab and when I clicked on the "+" next to "Category" label to expand them, my thumbnail screen on the right went blank.
It took me several tries until I realized that the moment I click on the "+" or anywhere else on the left side of screen, the very first line - "Tag" - gets selected and the folder thumbnail view is replaced by filter of tagged files. To avoid that, I have to first click on Category line to pre-select it, then on "+" button to expand. So it takes 2 clicks where it should only take one.
This is a minor thing, of course.

I think you are doing the category wrong. To assign category, you either choose from the view menu or the "Preview...Category" tab instead of "category" bookmark. That is for viewing after category for photos are set.

I don't think so. I am able to drag & drop the thumbnails from the right side of the screen onto any category name in the left window, this definitely looks to me like it was done by design - it's pretty intuitive, and works much faster than any other option, esp. for large groups of files.

Yes, it's a known bug, really difficult to fixAmamba wrote:It took me several tries until I realized that the moment I click on the "+" or anywhere else on the left side of screen, the very first line - "Tag" - gets selected and the folder thumbnail view is replaced by filter of tagged files. Hi Pierre...
Please fix it, though. It makes the category tree so cumbersome I am reluctant to use it on a regular basis!really difficult to fix
