Congratulations for this program. I think it is one of most powerful soft to use in its field.
I'm going to tell you my problem. I think it's a bug or similar.
I've made some negatives old-shots scanning with my Epson Perfection V200 PHOTO scanner.
When I tried to see these tif files they appears wrong.
The photos appear right in GIMP or Picasa for example.
Best regards.

Dear Pierre,
I'm going to send you a file example via e-mail (<-- removed* -->)
I'm not sure how to do in this message (it's possible to send an attached file in a post ?)
Thanks a lot.
Paco.

Re: Some problem showing 16bit tiff grey scale scanned photos
Another problem related with tiff files in 16 bit gray scale is when you try to rotate (clockwise or counterclockwise doesn't matter) an tiff 16 bit gray scale. When you do it the image it's rotated normally but it's converted to 8 bit gray scale format.
Furthermore when open the color mode options to export tiff files (exporting menu) only exits gray scale. I suspect that the conversion for this mode it's always 8 bit.
Thanks a lot.
Paco.

XnView works with 8bits per component.xp_zxp_ wrote:Another problem related with tiff files in 16 bit gray scale is when you try to rotate (clockwise or counterclockwise doesn't matter) an tiff 16 bit gray scale. Re: Some problem showing 16bit tiff grey scale scanned photos
It's clear that XnView works at 8 bit internally.
In the case of rotation images it may be useful to indicate (window warning or similar may be) if the transformation it's going to alterate the format of the original file.
It's a suggestion
