Drag and drop from one xnview to another - different behavi

Post by Dreamer »

When I drag the file from one xnview window (instance) to another, when I drag it over the folder thumbnail it's moved, when I drag it over the empty area it's copied. Sometimes it's copied even if I drag over the folder thumbnail. Sometime it doesn't work at all - the same as here.

When dragging the file from the same disk, the standard Windows behaviour is to move, so it should be the same in xnview too IMO, but definitely it should be the same, at least (always move, or always copy, if not using ctrl/shift).

...Now I see how important and useful would be a dual pane browser. :( It's not just because of issues like this, but it would be also much faster.

XnView 1.97, Windows Vista SP2.

:) Hello !
...Now I see how important and useful would be a dual pane browser. …
• It's indeed better… About the D&D behaviour :
- I think personally ( and a lot of TC users think so too), the Windows behaviour is neither logical, nor handy.
Specially in text editors, where I often mistake with the +Shift or the + Ctrl, and in multi-window ones that's even different between two panels…
- I love the TC one which is :
- D&D always copies. D&D+Shift (or+Alt) moves.
Of course, confirmation messages are set by default (and disabled for me, I hate that).

Just my 0.02 €…

I agree with Clo about which is the "best behavior"... but consistency with Windows standards is also important, and perhaps more so to some people.

An options toggle that swaps this behavior would be welcome.
